Aigars Bikše featured in 'Artists’ Breath Live’

Setouchi Asia Forum 2021 online booklet

Aigars Bikše was featured in Setouchi Asia Forum 2021 online booklet Artists’ Breath Live - Artists in the midst of the pandemic, which is an initiative launched by Setouchi Triennale, comprised of around 100 participants’ texts on the topic of the current global situation with a focus on artists’ individual experiences, perceptions and visions.

“Over these one and a half years after the outbreak of the new coronavirus, traveling, dining, gathering, and holding exhibitions have been restricted, and the humanity that humankind had acquired over 20,000 years have been lost. Despite being in such a difficult time, it gives us hope to hear from artists who continue to think and create their artworks. The desire to contact with art is growing stronger and stronger, and there has never been a time when artists’ ideas and works have become hope.

The texts show that these artists have meditated and considered how they can deal with various challenges regarding the global environment, the limits of financial capitalism, the continuing colonialism, social divide and polarization, and universalized urban spaces, in the society that we all live in. Among 7.8 billion people on the Earth, I would like to carefully observe and listen to their senses and what artists have to say.”
